About me

My name is Adam Swan and I've taught instrumental music in Texas public schools for the last seven years. I have been working towards the career change to data science for the last twelve months and completed General Assembly's 12-week data science immersive on October 25, 2021.

My degree in music education has helped me develop to be the person I am today and has equipped me with the resilience, interpersonal skills, and leadership to be successful in the professional world. The last 12-weeks have taught me to become effective coding in Python and the utilizing the many libraries used in data science from Pandas to Keras and Tensorflow.

NLP Subreddit Post Origin Classification

In this project I sought to identify which two similar subreddits scraped posts originated from using machine learning and NLP.

California Wild Fire Prediction

Using historical weather data, web scraping, and machine learning, we identified the likelihood of wild fires in all 58 counties in the state of California.

Vegetable Recommender and Water Usage Estimator

In this project I compiled user feedback to recommend vegetables similar to specified user taste. I also included an app to help users estimate water usage using historical weather data and the user's county.

*NEW* Customer Segmentation and Sales Predictions

Using customer demographic and behavior data I divided customers into clusters based on shared features and patterns to help identify traits to drive targetted ads and support further revenue growth.
